What licence is required to operate a hotel or tourist establishment in Cyprus?
The competent authority is the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The applicant must be an individual or legal entity resident in the Republic of Cyprus or a citizen of another EU Member State or a legal entity registered in another Member State, and must submit documents including a current Health Certificate, Swimming Pool Health Certificate, Lift Engineer reports, Oil Storage Licence, LPG inspection reports, a Fire Department report, Labour Inspection confirmation of Risk Assessment, planning consent, and a Hotel Manager form. Applicants are notified of the licensing decision within two months of the date on which the application and supporting documents were received in due form, and hotels receive their final classification within two weeks of the operating licence being issued. The Application for Hotel Operating Licence is submitted directly to a District Office of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, where a district officer verifies completeness in the applicant's presence, and operating licences are valid for three years from the date of issue and are renewed automatically. Specific EUR fees are not quoted on the page, which references a Licence and Classification Fees 2021 document; the official page is authoritative for the fee amounts.
