What licence do I need to provide electrical services in Cyprus?

The competent authority is the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services (EMS) in Kaimakli, Nicosia. Applicants must have the appropriate educational background and experience for the specific electrical field, be a registered member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (Electrical Engineers only), pass EMS examinations (Contractors and Maintainers only), meet minimum age requirements of 21 (Contractors), 19 (Maintainers), or 18 (Wiremen), and have good knowledge of the Greek language. Fees are 30.50 euros for Electrical Engineers, 20.50 euros for Senior Electrical Technician Engineers, 20.50 euros for Electrical Installations Contractors, 18.50 euros for Electrical Equipment and Appliances Maintainers, 6.50 euros for Wiremen (Electricians), and 8.50 euros for the annual Registration Certificate. A decision is notified within three months from the date the application was duly submitted, the Registration Certificate is issued in approximately 15 days, and the Certificate of Competency is valid for an unlimited period of time. Applications can be submitted through PSC Cyprus or directly to the Department of EMS.
