Stavrovouni admits men only (the Athonite rule) and allows no photography. Elsewhere the rule is modest dress — shoulders and knees covered, wraps often provided — plus quiet, no flash, and many monasteries close 12:00–13:00 and in the afternoon. Knowing this in advance saves a wasted drive.
