For a small island, Cyprus is strikingly international. A large share of its residents were born abroad, and the mix — British retirees, Eastern European families, Middle Eastern entrepreneurs, remote professionals from everywhere — gives the island a cosmopolitan ease that surprises first-time visitors.
The reasons rhyme: the climate and the safety, EU membership, a business-friendly framework, English spoken widely, and a pace of life that treats family and the outdoors as the point rather than the reward. Some came for a season and simply never found a reason to leave.
